I've had some productive evenings cutting this week and thought I would photobomb some of them. Ruby in Fuchsite - I always enjoy working with this. It is a fun material. Dinosaur Bone 1 Dinosaur Bone 2 Dinosaur Bone 3 - I love dino bone and really like the slabs a lot of people toss. This is one I am keeping. It has character Texas Plume Agate 1 - self collected near Marfa / Woodward Ranch Texas Plume Agate 2 - self collected near Marfa / Woodward Ranch Texas Petrified Palm Chrysocolla Sonora Sunrise - Another fun stone to work with. I really like the teal colors this has. The rough looked like it was going to be solid crimson cuprite. I ended up with 7 slabs like this. Australian Varicite Inspiration Mine Azurite/Malachite Namibian Shattuckite Spectrolite 1 - always fun to cut. Spectrolite 2 Spectrolite 3 Spectrolite 4 Namibian Quantum Quattro 1 - mix of shattuckite, chrysocolla, diopase, and smokey quartz. Quantum Quattro 2 Petrified Chrysocolla Wood from Turkey - the mixed hardness of the opal, malachite, azurite, chrysocolla, and petrified wood, made this a fun challenge to polish. I gave up getting out all the undercutting lol Gem Silica 1 Gem Silica 2 Gem Silica with Chatoyant Malacite - this cab is really cool in person. The malachite almost shimmers in direct light. Hope everyone has a great week! Roger

Beautiful show! I'm loving your shapes. I thought I liked the bone best until I saw the spectrolite, then I saw the gem silica .... confused. I don't which I like best!

Many many beautiful cabs. Amazing finish on the spectrolite (and rather better finish than my Aus Variscite). What was your finishing compound if you don't mind?

Thank you everyone. It was a fun week working on them, though I have already touched up the shape and girdles on most if them. Several weren't as crisp as I thought before I saw my photos:/ Many many beautiful cabs. Amazing finish on the spectrolite (and rather better finish than my Aus Variscite). What was your finishing compound if you don't mind? I use a mixture of high grade alumina, tin oxide, and cerium oxide on a leather disc. I have been using the same mixture for every cab I cut for the last year or so. It seems to work pretty well.

Man, those are all spectacular, but that spectrolite is a winner! Always surprises me that I don't see it all that often. Nicer than labradorite, in my humble opinion.
