I finally did it. I ordered a Lot-O today. I no longer have excuses for lousy tumbles, except that I suck and I don't know what I'm doing. Actually those are pretty good excuses now that I think about it. =) My wife was thrilled, but not nearly as thrilled as she'll be when I borrow her car to bring home cinder blocks to mount it.
Where do you guys keep yours? I was thinking it would look nice as a focal point in the kitchen. I suspect it will go next to my bed, out in the garage... =)

Congrats on the purchase. Money well spent. I keep all my noisy stuff in one place. I think most people just mount them to a single block but I prefer to have mine at a height that does not require bending over as much. Chuck

And not one light on the dart board. Sheesh.
Nice space there, time could get lost in that corner.

Wow. Nice looking shop, even if you photoshopped it...or set it up and never used it. My wife would be thrilled if my work area looked like that. Now, do you really spend a ton of time there on that stool? Actually, it is better than my workshop chair, which is non existent. I could spend hours in your man cave. Thanks for sharing and making me think.

Lot-Os are usually kept in man caves or other isolated areas in the darkest recesses of your home.

Mine is in the garage. Hence the name. You're going to have fun watching those rocks rolling around in there.

Lot-O's out lawed in Florida. They trigger sink holes. Wished I had (six) one.

Congrats! It took so much of the frustration out out the process for me. It really lets you just relax and tumble. You're going to love it.

I'm jealous! Looking forward to seeing what you do with it though. Congrats!

I keep mine in the basement. Adding the rubber mat under the concrete blocks made a big difference. I have also moved it to a corner in the basement below a "not used very often" room. If you really try, you can hear a low hum on the main floor. But my house is also 100 years old and there is no insulation between floors.

Mine is in the basement, right next to the other tumblers.

Ay caramba! This is killing me. I got my Lot-O, and even though I KNEW I needed to get a concrete block, I hadn't done it yet, so I had to just look at the polisher doing nothing all weekend because I was tied up with other stuff. So today, I got the block, then primed it, and waited... Then, I painted it, and am waiting...
THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE FASTER!!!
I am going to polish the EARTH as soon as that block is dry and I can get the Lot-O attached to it.

She's been humming away for about 24 hours now with 500 AO. It is really interesting to see how the rocks move around in there. I wish you could put a QT12 onto a vibrating table or something. I'd be interested to see if adding vibration to a rotary would bear fruit. I would almost think that it would be more-effective than either a vibe or rotary because you'd get the best of both, but it would be a convoluted machine, and you'd likely end up putting extra stress on the motor of the rotary, unless you could isolate that completely. Has anyone made a vibrating rotary? Is this blasphemy?

It is fun to watch the rocks roll around in the Lot O. I feel like a big dope when there's one particular rock I want to pull out and inspect and I'm hovering over the machine like a robin watching for a worm. It goes by too fast to get on the first grab, inevitably sliding through the fingers. Sometimes you get it trapped with one finger against the inside of the barrel and try to slide it up and out. Must look silly. Could turn the thing off, but where's the fun in that?

Garage Rocker, and here I thought I was the only one to play "catch the rolling rock". It usually happens after I hit the barrel with a few sprays of water. Some nice color combo catches my eye. All the spiders in my basement must think I'm a little crazy.

All the spiders in my basement must think I'm a little crazy. I almost snorted coffee out my nose when I read that remembering crawling around looking for the little nut that holds the outer lid cover on my tumbler barrels.
