Was going through the rocks wrapped up on the back porch and ran into a few I was wondering if you could help me with. 1) These rocks are purple purple purple. They don't seem like fluorite to me. 2) I picked this up on my trip to the 79 Mine near Superior. I know what the cute pyrite cubes are, but its matrix is mainly lavender, with pink and green. Any ideas? At first I thought cement but there isn't any cement there. 3) This is a hand-sized chunk of pet wood from a nice haul in Northern AZ. Is it agatized or opalized? It was laying on the ground like this. The area we were in, we were basically walking on nothing but pet wood. Some pieces were so huge we couldn't even think about bringing them back. It was a public area. My geologist friend knew about it. 4) This feels as weird as it looks. Almost greasy. It's a fair sized piece. Not very attractive but I liked how odd it was. Thanks!

#1 does appear to be purple chalcedony. Not a common color but you do find in in Arizona, Nevada. Mexico, Turkey etc.
#2 I don't know. need to have a mineral guy chime in.
#3 does appear to be agatized, not opalized
#4 Wind polished chalcedony. Often has that waxy look. Commonly seen in agates from windy areas like Sweet Water, Wyoming

Thanks! I'd never have guessed chalcedony. It's really lovely, wish I was a cutter. Um, the greasy stuff, nice to know. #1 and #4 were given to me, which is why i have no history on them.

I have some Arizona Chalcedony, that looks almost mossy like yours, but not as weathered. Just my 2 cents.......that's all it's worth!

Yes, Burrow Creek, AZ. This is a picture I found online. That was only a guess......no where near as knowledgeable as Mel Sabre52, I just happen to have some tumbling.
