My mother found these two very tall mushrooms growing under one of the small mesquite trees here. We didn't know that mushrooms even existed here in the desert but they do. I googled it...lol. These are desert giant stalked puffballs. They are at least 14 inches tall. Thought they were cool so snapped a few pics to share with you. The tops are small but have spore dust all over them that is the color of cinnamon and gets all over everything (look at the dust in the rocks).

I see mushrooms in the desert all the time North of here in the Valley of Fire area. I was surprised as well the first time I saw them in the desert soil. They grown about 3-4 inches out here.

What where they growing on?
I have seen shrooms too, but at the base of oak trees in transition zones.
Those are truly remarkable! Thanks for sharing Diane!
