A single stone came out almost totally unpolished...just a few lines like water drips. Any idea what could have caused this? Maybe Dave's granddaughter (?) who lives in the store, switched a different stone? Very strange to do a bunch of stones of the same type the same way, and have a single one come out so disappoint

When Tibetans weave a rug they purposely put in a mistake in the design because only God can create something perfect. Maybe you've got a Tibetan rock.

I have not only run into that problem, but I have also run into some stones that don't polish at all. I think it depends on the stone and the type of polish you use.

I like Hermatite's explanation. For your first batch youv'e done very well. It's not a mistake youv'e made, it just happens. If you are a perfectionist in this hobby you will be very frustrated. Guess I'm the kind of person that would see that stone as the "runt of the litter" and love it that much more. cookie

Might be a softer rock with inclusions of the harder rock (the part that polished). Like they said, it happens all the time. I toss them in other runs and sometimes they eventually polish.
