Fellow fans, Thanks for your suggestions in advance! I have finally started tumbling and have a Thumlers B and Thumlers AR2 My most recent B load is not as well-tumbled as possible and I want to redo them, smoothing out the many recessed areas which did not become smooth. Is there a book that describes the best techniques for achieving the spectacular results that these rocks are capable of?

Welcome to the forum. The short answer is, you didn't leave your stones in the course stage long enough if there are pits and recesses. You'll get a much nicer looking polish if you leave them in there until they are nice and rounded, without holes. Depending on the type of rock, that will take weeks or months. There is a lot of information on this forum, but it is hard to find unless you know how to search. It's explained well in one of the pinned threads: It's been explained in the Forum before, but I think this warrants a Sticky. Anyone who's tried it knows that the search feature at the top of the page is not very effective. You'll get better, faster results if you use the search feature of your browser instead.
Open a new tab or page. In the address bar where you enter the terms of your search, also include this: site:forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/
For example, search for this: site:forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/ "cal silica" (remember to use " " around multiple word terms)
Now try it with an additional term: site:forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/ "cal silica" "man made" Try your own search. See how it works?Read more: forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/55498/search-forum-answers#ixzz4OxmVv78KYou'll find everything you could get out of a book, and more!

Welcome psychedelicwood..........On my 1st stages on a few loads,I have let them roll for a month and a half, before I was satisfied with the looks of the material...... The tumbling discussion forums on here, will give you loads of info-to walk you through your processes of tumbling... Enjoy... As Garage Rocker said, its better than any book, you will ever read on the subject....
