i thought about dumo. it does not look like any. i read there was dumo in nevada that sounded like it may be, i have found no pics of it though.

Hmm, if it's not dumortierite ( my first guess too) there are other blue quartz varieties ie blue aventurine and just plain ole blue quartz from Brazil. Also, I have a slab of blue lepidolite from Australia. Stuff comes in all colors from dark to light blue and sometimes with white too. Dumortierite from Nevada I've seen is more pinkish. There is also a Henderson Blue agate from Nevada that can have a violet tinge in transmitted light as it comes from beryllium area.....Mel

i think aventurine too Mel . You see the lamentations in the back lit pic, i thought that was different for aventurine?
