If you compared my cab from this month to my first one I made last year you would notice the difference. Mostly due to competitions and pushing myself to try new things on my own.

While all entries are great, I like the OJ. Its just such an (to me) unusual colour.
And yes, contests are a good way to push oneself to do better, each and every time.

I started this year, when I got a flat lap in April, not quite true I did 2 back in January, when I shaped them on a grinder and sanded with the dop mounted in the wood lathe chuck, never polished them.

We will need a lot more voters on this one... I haven't seen one this strong since I started entering contests last year.
Again great work everyone.

Since this is for December and it's the Holiday Season, why not go with traditional Christmas colors: predominant red or green (or both in the same stone)? I think most everyone will have rough that qualifies. If not and there are objections, I'll suggest something else.
I'd also like to follow the example set by Tommy in earlier contests. I'll contribute a nice slab or slabette of good quality material to the December winner equal to the total number of entries. For instance there were 5 entries in October so that would equal 5 slabs, but the more the merrier. If I enter and should win, the prize will go to the runner-up.

Congrats on a beautiful award winning OJ cabochon. Seems like a lifetime ago but I did sponsor this contest I think so PM me your address and I'll get a box-o-slabs out in your direction.

Thanks for the congrats Tommy. Since I don't need more slabs at the moment, I think your prize should go the runner-up Rivarat. Shipping to Oz may be a problem but you two can probably work it out. Hope your injury is improving and that we'll see you back at the wheels soon!

Hope your injury is improving and that we'll see you back at the wheels soon! That's mighty generous of you gemfeller. Thanks for the good words - my followup appointment is this afternoon and we'll find out if I can start putting weight on it. Not going to tell the Dr. I've been walking on it a little bit for the last several days haha. I'm officially back at the wheels as of last week and trying to bang through a literal buttload of shaped/dopped cabs I was working on when I went down. rivarat Gemfeller has bequeathed a box of slabs to you. Send me a private message with your address and I'll start figuring out how much it costs to get it to you. Might have to scale back the quantity a bit but I'll make it up on quality.
