That will be cool! I bout 10 lbs of tigers eye from him and it was the best quality I've seen yet. His ocean jasper was good too. Better than the gem shop had... I'm interested in what shawn comes up with next.

heres a email i got from shawn awile back
John, Hi, Thanks for the note. Yes, I am back, didn't have much luck on the fire-agate, most of what I saw was being sold by the gram, no mine run stuff. I got some new stuff, Carnelian, Labradorite, A red jasper from Madagascar and some Ocean Jasper, maybe a couple other things as well. Unfortunately, I had so much weight, I had to have a friend of mine take it and he is arranging it to be sent to me by truck so I am not going to have it for about 10 days yet. I imagine we'll send a news letter with at least one of those items on it at a special price to introduce some new items so if you're not already on our mailing list you should sign up. Thanks again for the note. Best Regards Shawn
so im waitin for the email sayin THE NEW ROCKS ARE IN THE NEW ROCKS ARE IN hahahahaha seeya ----john
that reminds me of THE JERK when he was yellin the new phone books are here the new phone books are here when he looked up his name he said now im a somebody hahahahahaha one of my fav movies

I have to agree, the Rock Shed is a great place... just recently purchased a Lortone 33B from them as well as about 12lbs of grit, a pound of hematite and 2 lbs. of Brazilian agate... the agate are beautiful stones... in fact, they were so nice, I was tempted not to tumble them, and just keep them as they were... perfect quality... and they are really friendly and extremely efficient... Anyway, I'm definately interested in any deals they come up with, and will continue to shop with them for everything I can...

Hey Wiz, it was about six months ago that I got the ocean jasper. It was 5 lbs for $35.00 if I remember correctly. I was good qualit too. Better then the gem shop, but they sell theirs for $25.00 for 5 lbs. Still worth looking into. I was satisfied. My best find however, was on ebay. Wait and see, I have them tumbling right now.

I just have to put in my two cents worth for Shawn at the RockShed as well. I like the fact that I'm never surprised ...that what's on the site in what I get. I just ordered five pounds of the small mixed rough and it looks fab. I plopped it in the first grit as soon as I could tear the bag open. Great service and great price...and hey..tootsie rolls.

rocky if thats the agate with the sea shells in it. you have to let alot go because it will have alot of pits. the shells are softer then the agate and wear or chip out leaving the pits

yes a have had some since i started in december. but i have always held it back because my son doesn't like any marks on the stones. they have to be perfect before they move on.so i had to sneak then in to the 120/220 barrel

I got some turitilla agate in the mixed batch of rocks. I just chucked it in with the rest of it...didn't do anything different than with the rest of the rocks and I have to say that it shined up gloriously. I love that stone and to be honest, I'm considering doing a whole batch of it. Some of the pieces had clear bits...some were just pure shell..really pretty. I didn't experience the pitting problem except with some of the small bits..and I mean SMALL...like a quarter inch across and maybe an eighth of an inch thick. It was really more of a chip...and a piece pitted out in the last grit...but I polished it anyway. I don't know if this helps, but really I just treated it like a regular rock.

I used the polish from the Rock Shed...I'm pretty sure it's aluminum oxide as I didn't specially request cerium. I'll dig out a couple of pieces and see if I can't get a pic for you, okay?

Shoot...I forgot...one last thing...I ran them with plastic pellets at every stage. Even the roughest grit.
