Looking at buying this saw, as my first slab saw. Looking for thoughts on the type of clamp? and any extra advise. Judge on the size of the bricks in the photos, I'd say the blade is 18" maybe 16. Comes with a spare blade. At a price of $200 australian about $150 us. Only problem is someone else has the first offer, other than that it might be mine, plus a 700 mile round trip to collect.

Nothing wrong with that saw's vice that a steel bar with wood on one side won't cure. (i.e. replace the chain with a metal bar if needed, but the chain might work fine for round rocks, albeit slow to adjust). Is it a gravity feed. I don't see a mechanism for moving the "sled" forward as the work proceeds. It seems to be a workable design no matter what the details are on vice and drive mechanism. I do note that it is a left handed saw. Most saws on this side of the pond cut on the left with the vice on the opposite side. I guess yours is the Southern Hemisphere model. I hope you get the saw.

Make a higher offer, it is worth more. A new 18 inch blade would be lot more than that.

Scarf that baby up!!! As said make a higher offer!!!! That's how I got my saws, when I contacted the seller he told me they where sold, I hung up the phone and figured my loss , but I called right back after drying my tears, and offers more and to my lunch they took my offer, like that saying or best offer, offer them 75-100$ more and you may get it, that is a cool saw even if you pay 275-300$ your still good!

The saw isn't going to be coming to my home. The seller did a bit of research and realized they were selling it too cheap, and it is now going to a club near them. I'll keep looking and maybe one day soon I'll get one.

There is a better saw sitting somewhere right now where the seller is thinking about listing it that you will buy. Post a Looking to buy ad in one of your local papers or free online want ad sites. I was looking for 2 saws recently. After a month I missed out on several only to find 2 in the past week that are now in my shop. Make sure to be patient as well in finding a brand and size that will suit what you want to cut. Make sure you ask the seller that all parts move and turn freely in the vise and carriage. Ask about the life of the blade and motors all working properly. If it needs a new blade ask for a better price. I was contacted in my hometown for the one an easy drive and the other a 12 hour round trip over 2 days for a 24 inch. My back is about broke but the smile is bright. Good luck!!
