Found a saw listed on CL last week, called them Sunday picked it up Monday. Spent a couple of hours working on it today, cleaned out muck, put on new power cord but still need inline switch. I think I have the spring powered auto feed figured out just need some oil to give it a try. Also will need some new plexiglass before I do much cutting.

That's an interesting build. Ought to keep you busy cutting rocks! Gravity feed I assume. Is the front half of the vise on a pivot pin?

I have never had a gravity feed saw, hopefully some folks that have will stop by to comment.
It seems to me that there should be a weight on that chain out the front of the saw which would move the vise. Kinda hard to tell without seeing it in person. I can't imagine the user having to keep tension on the chain manually for a cut.

I'll try to get some pictures of the bottom of the vise carriage tomorrow. Hopefully it will show how the cable is connected on both ends.

Plastic bottle in front full of water is the weight. Adjust water level to adjust feed. I've heard if you let the weight bottle lower into a bucket of water(water level at end of travel) it prevents the break out you get with power feed. If you can manually feed do that until you learn how the saw sounds when gently feeding. Then adjust weight in bottle to sound the same. Covington weight feed saws come with fish scales to do the same thing. Weight feed is infinitely adjustable so once you figure it out it could be better than most power feed systems.

I agree with captbob, there should be an adjustable weight, I'm working on my HP B-12 , it has a feed kind of like yours, on the back side it has a pulley wheel to take off some tension and drag from the chain, by the way great CL find, cool looking saw is it 12" or 16"?

Hey thanks for the video , what brand is that saw ? I like the vintage machine look of this saw the turn knobs and all, interesting feed set up , seems to work well gives tension with room for slack from the spring to allow any kick back for any reason, I would like to modify my b-12 to feed like that, beats trying to weight it, (time to experiment! )

I don't know who made it. I've looked and no name, castings for the clamp and arbor shaft are unmarked. I was hoping someone on here might have an idea but so far have heard nothing about maker.
