Sawing desirable larger rocks into tumbles. Usually into one inch slabs and then sandwiching the thick slabs together in vice with cardboard between them and dice. Sometimes 3-4 thick slabs at a time.

Especially petrified wood and palm and coral. All of these can achieve a different look sawn at an angle to tubes/grain.
Wood in particular since it can look totally different quarter sawn, lap sawn and cross sawn. Who cares if the tumbles end up being cubic, good to see wood from 3 dimensions.

Agreed. I end up lopping off some of pitted ends and such as well.

Hey James how about doing your concrete trick??? Collected Texas size stuff this time. Odd thing, the bigger the pet wood the better the quality in many cases. If they were 2 inch pieces then the concrete thing Bill.
