I've got a paper grocery bag over half full of wild turkey feathers from the tom I bagged this spring, and I hate to throw them out. These are feathers from the body of the bird, nothing from the tail or wings.
Anybody wanna trade some rock for some feathers? I'm sure I could also find some rocks to put in the package so it doesn't blow away lol
Photobucket is being a pita, I'll get a pic of the feathers up asap. They have great colors, blue, tan, white on dark gray.

Hey Radio and Nate I use the feathers for several things with my ancient man crafts. I am learning to make arrows from river cane and fletching them with either goose or turkey feathers, of course the have my flint knapped arrowheads. You need wing festhers for this. I also make the bead and feather fetishes to hang on the handles of my flint knapped Tomahawks or knives. Wing feathers are hard to come by. The iredescent body feathers make very nice traditional decorations even on knife display stands.

Another thing they can be used for is a turkey feather blanket. Takes a long time to make, and lots of feathers, but you've never felt a lighter, warmer blanket! I tried to make one once, never could get enough feathers. It takes feathers from 68 turkeys to make one blanket. can dig up a pic maybe if anyone is interested.

Wow that's a bun c h of feathers Phil! Yep. that's why I never got very far making one. You can only use the hurls, or what looks like the fuzzy long body feathers. This artifact is a baby blanket. Imagine one for an adult! amazingly, the people of the pueblo had one of these for every member of the pueblo, and they kept them very warm during our cold winters. When the damn Spaniards came, they confiscated every one of the blankets and gave them smallpox laden wool blankets in trade. And the wool blankets were not near as warm to use. You know the story from there. They never succeeded in making that many blankets for their people ever again. Still wish I had enough feathers to make one, but even posting on all the hunting forums,I never got more than a bag or two.

If you get some more in the future I would be interested. I make Native American crafts sometimes and have two masks from the Hopi Reservation that were given to me as gifts. I had them in storage for a while and the feathers were severely damaged and I would like to replace them.

I happen to have two complete wings from the huge Tom I killed this spring I might be persuaded to part with. I also saved a bunch of the breast feathers as they were just too pretty to throw away. I'm not parting with the fan though

Q: What's the difference between kinky and perverted? A: With kinky you use a feather. With perverted you use the whole turkey!

Hey Radio how about a really nice flint knapped knife that the lovely Susan otherwise known as the love of my like hafted? I would gladly trade you? They are yours and no trade necessary I need to figure out the best way to ship them. Might be best to pluck them and ship in a cardboard tube unless you prefer them left on the wing bone. The longest feathers nearest the ground are damaged on the tips from his dragging them on the ground strutting for the ladies message me with your info and shipping preference
