I am not 100% certain that this is a dino turd, but I'll be danged if it doesn't look like it. It looks like something that a cave man scraped off the bottom of his shoe after mowing the yard.
It's even flat, about 3/8" thick. Any thoughts on whether this is really poo or not?

About polishing a turd. Went to a seminar and Pete Rose was one of the speakers. Well, he is just not a classy type guy....any he talked about His outfit and he said he could have rented a nice suit and look like a rich man but... You can't polish a turd. HA

Still should be a hall of fame turd. Plenty of others in there.

Still should be a hall of fame turd. Plenty of others in there. Hey! I was in riverfront thr summer of 72 and 74! I was a big red machine fan. But the career ending injury of ray fosse during the 1970 all star game ruined him for me. I did still cheer for him and the reds though! Others caught gambling are featured in the hall of fame?

The turd should be in the hall of fame as a player but not a coach. Of coarse I'm a Reds fan from way back so my option is very one sided. A Cinncinati / Ohio guy.

Wife beaters, alcoholics, performance enhancement...a bunch of turds. Gambling when he was coach, and still involved with baseball, is the biggie though. They are going to make an example of that, for sure. But strictly as a player, come on.?? I think it was as much about his attitude. He's unlikeable and unrepentant.
Ray Fosse, that was unfortunate. I don't believe there was ill intent there. Just the way Pete played. Would it have made a difference if it had not been an all-star game? Playoff game? I think it was one in the same to Pete, all out-all the time.

He gambled as a player too. That shouldn't cause us to ignore what he did before he gambled. Yes all star game made it different. It's exhibition, not balls to the walls. Do it opening day, any day or playoffs world series? Part of the game. I officiated youth baseball for 30 years. Seen crap like that there too. No tolerance. I think performance enhancing protocols are the best thing to happen to sports. The fact we destroy our heroes is very sad. Lance Armstrong, ARod, MacGuire and all the rest changed the games they played. For the better. The only way to have a level playing field is to make them legit. Because some will always cheat if prohibited. And that rock? Hoping for daylight images.

Good, because it's hard to argue for performance enhancing drugs and against gambling as criteria for entry. At least he bet on his team winning, as far as I know...maybe not?

I know that world series home field advantage was not on the table back then, and it was exhibition for the fans, primarily. The players still wore uniforms and played ball. You and I are wired to know the difference. I think this guy was just wired differently. Ultra competitive probably doesn't say enough. Wrong? Most definitely. Fit his profile? Certainly. Make us not like him? Probably. Wish it didn't play out the way it did? I bet he does. Keep him out of the HOF???

I would argue that enhanced athletes can make their respective sport exciting, but better? Is every athlete going to feel compelled to participate in this, possibly dangerous, activity in order to keep up with those that do? I can't believe that encouraging everyone to do it is the answer.
And yes, I'm a homer. Cincy is an hour drive for me and I was a Big Red Machine fan, early in my life. Probably influences my opinion on Pete. Still doesn't mean this guy shouldn't be honored as one of the best hitters, best baseball players of all time.
Sorry to poo-poo on your poo-poo thread Rick. I really do hope you find out if you have a dino deuce on your hands.
