Well my 60-90 Grit finally arrived yesterday from Miles Supply. Delivery time was 2 weeks from Georgia to Texas. It was double boxed. The outside box was fine but the inside box was pretty beatup and the bag inside the box was ripped open. After scooping up all the grit I could, I wound up with 44 lbs. Instead of the $46 total cost that the lady estimated, it wound up being $54. I'm not sure what happened in shipping, perhaps UPS had to rebox it due to leakage. It still works out to be about $1.25 per lb. which is better than the $2.25 plus tax that I usually pay at the rock shop that I go to. I just wish they would have done a little better job of shipping.

hi all ---bob i would call and let them know what happend and that you got a ripped bag im sure they would make good for it they where very nice so far i been thinkin bout tryin to get some 120/220 from them just havent got around to callin and askin how much i hafta buy and how much it cost yeti still have a five lb bag not opened yet
bob that sounds like it went on a trip maybe ups screwed up and put it on the wrong truck cause i got mine in like three work days maybe four dont remeber right off hand ok seeya john

bob, john's right let someone know. you know it didn't leave their warehouse that way so something happened in shipping. the shipper's responsible for that.

I'll probably shoot her an email on Monday just to let her know what happened. At 6 lbs. short we're only talking about $3 but I would think they would want to know. At those kind of prices and quantities I'm assuming most of their customers are dealers and people using the grit for industial purposes. One thing I don't want is for them to take the attitude that they don't want to mess with shipping 50 lbs. here and there and then we can't get it anymore. All it might take is one nastygram from someone to screw it up so I'll be nice about it.

It sounds like if the inner box was messed up then someone along the line tried to remedy the problem by putting it in another box, and didn't realize that the bag was compromised and releasing grit.

UPS has been bad lately about beating up boxes. I just got a box of rough and the box was very beat up and the bags the rocks were in were torn up as well. I'm not happy with ups. I beleive fedex is cheaper.

I purchase my 60/90 from Kingsley North. They charge $65 plus shipping but the grit comes in a very heavy duty plastic bag inside of a grain sack (the woven plastic kind that replaced the old burlap bag) wired shut inside a cardboard box. Only way that's going to rupture is if it's speared with a blade. I purchase my 120-220 from Arrowhead Lapiday Supplies. They also charge $65 plus shipping but the grit comes in a sealed 5 gallon pail in a cardboard box. I have found the quality of the grit from these sources to be A1+ and the orders are handled quickly. I have purchased grit from others sources and have discovered that not all grit is the same. Some that I've purchased seemed to break down significantly faster than others. I have also had it shipped to me in paper bags and light duty plastic bags, and to me that is completely unacceptable. It's like walking around with a safe hanging over your head, and I don't need any more headaches! Ron ps. Unless, of course, that safe is full of gold dubloons! I guess I could handle that headache. ;D
