This is a baseball sized tumble full of clear agate with brown structures in it. Guessing it is tubes since the exits from the surface are hollow. Sabre52 ?? Could be sawn for fine cabs but fractures dodged and the holes at the tube like structures would have to be dealt with.

Very cool and great color too. I'd say tube, as you can see where the ends of some of them are open. Very similar stuff from Horse Canyon in Commiefornia except most there are white or green. The white ones we sometimes called "spaghetti agate" cause the tubes looked like noodles. I've got a tube Rio in my pile I've got to cut.. Yours is better than most, as a lot of Rio tube agates have lots of fortifications filled with crystals that mess up the slabs..Mel

It has a high percentage clear(chalcedony ?). Unfortunately, those mosses and plumes and tubes with high percentage clear fill like to have fractures. And whatever that clear fill is, is very hard/tough and fights me on the diamond wheel.

I cut this cab from some pieces that were thrown away that I found in a gutter up in Pismo. Neat stuff whatever it is. Horse Canyon Tube Agate

Rick, The Horse Canyon stuff was actually colored about like spagetti. Same tubes but sort of cream yellow colored. I've not collected too many places that had the sort of variety we found out there. Was so sorry to see it closed to collecting.....Mel

Was so sorry to see it closed to collecting.....Mel It looks like horse canyon isn't closed to collecting. That appears to be a rumour started by folks with an interest in having exclusivity to the materials. I keep hearing about folks who are hounding it recently. maybe those are the rumours. I'm going out there. Google earth shows access thru a housing development.
