Any suggestions for attaching weighs to flat slabs and end cuts for polishing on a vibrating Flat Lap. I tried Gorilla Glue for a test but it seems to be failing, a couple of the weights are coming loose. Not sure if it's the vibration or the spashing. If Glue , what kind?
Thanks

I use a blue putty that I get from Home Depot. Don't have the container anymore, so can't help with a brand name. Imagine it cleans off the slab much easier than a glue would. Don't recall a weight ever falling off. Never tried glue. Splashing?

Blue Putty, which department? paint and caulk?
Splashing, from the pan with the water and grit. It's not splashing a lot but over time water does get to the glue. Of course I haven't cleaned any of the glue off the rocks yet so that may be another issue
I like the putty idea

paulshiroma, will also be a great resource. He has a few threads on working a vibe lap.

HankRocks, I use Loctite Repair putty. It's a two-part putty that you cut and then knead together to mix the two parts. Then mold it onto the rock and press your fishing weight into it. I use those one pound fishing weights, they work well. The putty will cure in an hour or so and will handle the vibration from a vib-lap without issue. As CaptBob mentions, it's available at Home Depot in the paint/caulk/adhesive aisle (at least in my local HD).

How do you get it apart?

Loctite seems like it would work. It would seem rather expensive unless the amount used for every weight is just a small bit. And as Orrum asked, how do you remove the weights and get the putty off of the rock?
Thanks

Just try the blue putty and see if you like it. It's a couple bucks. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Putty comes right off rock and weight pulls right off putty. I keep and reuse it over and over again. Says Reusable Adhesive Putty right on the package. It's not like Gorilla glue, it's putty! easy peasy

The Blue Putty is on my Hardware store list.
Been saving some of the nicer large end cuts for polishing so I am anxious to give this a try.
It's amazing that now that I am retired I am busier than ever, and my chore list/wish list keeps growing.

I just lever it off with a flat-head screwdriver. It'll pop right off.

go to any a/c shop in your area and ask for gum tape ! i use this and two drops of super glue when done just warm it up in a oven and use a thin gasket scraper
