I just talked to miles supplies in Georga to get prices on there grit. Sandman posted the cheapest grit in town which is this company. I talked to this man for about 20 min. He has alot of info he can tell you about the different grit. There website doesnt have prices and they are working on a catalog with prices. They are a word of mouth company that has be in business for 50 years. They sell all over the world and they know how to put the shine on rocks. Ok now for prices....
tin oxide $9.00 lbs. loose
aluminum oxide $0.40 lbs loose
60/90 grit silicone carbide $0.52 lbs. 50 lbs. min.
they also have a 54 grit that is not silicone carbide but another material that they use to sandblast into hard stone that can be reused up to 5 times. It is $1.05 lbs. He and another guy was wondering how it would work in tumbling so I'm the guinea pig. Loose means that they will sell it by any pound. Thanks Sandman for finding this site! I bought 50 lb of 60/90 and 1 lb of the 54 . He gave me a lb. of aluminum oxide to just try for free. So the total was only $68.00 and that's with shipping included. Pretty cheap!!

I thought I was insane when I got my first 50 lb bag of 60/90 from kingsley north. 2 months later, and it's all gone. So I bough 100 lbs from these guys. Thanks to sandsman.
I recieved the package in less then a week. I talked to the same guy you did and he was really suprised that the grit was for a tumbler. He didn't know anything at all about tumbling. With all the new business, I'm sure he'll catch on quick.

Greetings All, I've looked into Miles Supply, they have a location right outside of Albany, GA. Methinks someday I'll be taking a drive over there to get some grit and polish, their prices are cheap but I just can't see paying shipping for 1000 lbs WilliamC

You'll need a few industrial size tumblers to go with that order.

Tueday I got my package of grit. Boy way it heavy. Total price was only $47.00 plus change. Not bad! U.P.S showed up at the door and said this is a heavy box! What's in it. Told him rocks. He said yea it feels as heavy if it was full of rocks. I told him again ...it's rocks. He said why would you want to buy rocks? I replyed...Long story. ;D

I hope you don't live in a humid area like Florida--You will have 900lbs of silicone rock..Smaller quanities used quickly always beats trying to save a few cents....
