I got my club newsletter today and I see that Alamo Rock Shop is having a sale. 50% off on outdoor rough and 25% off on item inside the store. It doesn't say what the duration of the sale is or if it applies to mail order items. You can email or call them to find out. There webpage is alamorockshop.com. Llana & Barb liston up!

On the way home just a minute ago - (yes, I do check the forum first thing when I walk in the door and was thinking it's time for a rock shop trip. Going to Barbara's tomorrow anyway because we have to change the blade on the saw. Thinking I would call her and see if she wants to go to the rock shop after we finish changing the blade. Calling her now! Thanks, Bob, for alerting us to this sale!

;D ;D ;D WOW ! A sale at the rock shop? That wasn't on my agenda for tomorrow, but 'agendas' were made to be amended! Haven't been able to connect with Llana yet, but had a msg from her when I got home from the river. I'm guessing that anyone looking for us tomorrow will be able to find us at the Alamo Rock Shop.
Thanks for the info, Bob!

I just sent off for 6lbs of stuff from them. The sale is through August, and you have to pre-pay with check or money order. They ship USPS parcel post (unless otherwise specified) so you can estimate shipping charges on the USPS web site. They are VERY good about answering e-mails, too.
I got so excited I Fed-exed a check to them today. So much for saving money on the sale...

What did you order, Taryl? At half off, I may look at all those beautiful rocks in a whole new light tomorrow! I really can't afford this right now, but who among US could pass up a rock sale?

I sure don't have any prob looking at the stuff you're interested in while we're there, and I'm sure Llana won't have any prob with it either! I know you would do the same for us!

BE - I ordered 3 pounds of petrified golden palm wood, 1 pound of amethyst crazy lace agate, and 2 pounds of mixed agate. That's all I could afford this paycheck, and it's two batches for my little tumbler, but next time...
I'm also curious to know what the blue ones are.
Have fun shopping!

John, I had printed your post, but Llana had printed their web page and wrote what the rocks are supposed to be on there. I'm sure she'll be on here soon answering your questions.
The sale is just on the rocks, not on the grit or equipment.
We had a great time there today, got a bunch of rocks we really didn't need, then came home, put a new blade (that we're dissappointed with) on the saw and sawed til almost dark.
It was a great ROCKIN" day!

We ordered a new diamond lapidary blade from a guy on eBay. We put it on the saw today and were not at all pleased with it. It just didn't cut right. In fact, it didn't cut as good new as either one of the blades you had already used cut. It sent sparks flying, kicked the rocks off the blade, broke pieces off whatever we were trying to cut. We haven't put the new blade that came with the saw on yet. We HAVE used both the old blades until they are about 1/8" to 1/4' smaller than the new blade and are almost smooth where the diamonds once were. They still cut better than this new one! We are taking it off tomorrow and putting the new blade you sent on. I'm sure not cutting my parrot wing with a blade that won't cut without breaking the rock! Where did you get your blades? BTW, the blue rocks - #5 is sodalite, #11 is plume agate and she wasn't sure what #12 is. Barbara got two nice chunks of sodalite. I intended to get some more but go so excited over the parrot wing, I forgot all about the sodalite!

llana try takin the blade off and flipin it around some blades have an arrow showin witch way it turns some dont,, flip it put it back on see if it cuts better sounds like it could be goin the wrong way

This blade did have an arrow showing which way it should be put on. The arrow was pointing the opposite direction from the arrows on the blades we got from you. We turned the blade over so that it would be going the right way. Guess we could try turning the blade over tomorrow and seeing if that helps before we put the new one you sent us on. Guess it could be the arrow on the blade was printed the wrong way and we have the blade on backwards. Doubtful, but worth a try.

John, we flipped the blade around this evening and it's cutting better.........but now the arrow points the wrong direction. Silly us, installing a 'made in China' blade with the arrow pointing the RIGHT way!
Thanks for the suggestion! We really appreciate that. So, where did you get your blades for this saw? We like yours better!
