The only problem with water jets is that they infuse garnet sand into the water stream. The bags of garnet are heavy and at a certain point the water jet is to full of sand and it takes two strong men a full day of scraping, scooping and bitching to clean the machine out. That and changing nozzles all the time.

The garnet in the water has to be small and no bigger than the opening of the jet, the scrap could be a tumble grit. Machine shops throw that away.

I have not seen anything that can cut like that video without media in the water stream. But i have not seen everything. I am always open to learning new things.

The water jet that the local shop uses 270-300 grit garnet. I could see no garnets to get super high pressure panamark. Concept is beyond imagination with or without. I just bought a new plasma cutter. Tiny little thing, shoe box size. Cuts up to 7/8" metal plate and is only an intermediate model. Boasts 50,000 degree Fahrenheit operating temperature. Cuts 3/8" plate about as fast as that water jet was moving. But no way compares to splitting a gun in half. Or camera with lenses. Insanity.

Once you've cut all your belongings in half what do you do then? Turn the machine on itself? Open a museum? $30 entry ... but today it's half price...

The waterjets my hubby used to include in CNC glass cutting machines ran at 60,000 Lbs. and they all used garnet media. They all needed at least three feet of tank water under the piece being cut.
