The 303 and the generic sintered blade are pretty close in price, how close are they in lifespan (in similar usage scenarios)? This would be mounted on an 8" water cooled rock saw @ 1725 rpm. Edit: I wasn't real impressed with the generic green blade but it was cheap and I don't use oil.

Depends on which "generic sintered blade". My personal experience between the green crimped blades and 303 is the green blades are very durable but noisy and don't cut as smooth. With any continuous sintered rim blade, the grit of diamond and matrix hardness will affect how they cut.

That mostly black one that Kingsley and Hi-Tech sell on their sites. They don't offer many details. If you click that phrase in my original post it should link you to a page with a photo. My green one does have some life left but I am for sure buying a new one and don't have much experience yet with the different brands.

Black blade has 270/325 grit diamond and a very tall rim. 303 is 80/100 grit. I ordered red (325/400) and black blades to see if they would cut glass chip free but only had some window glass and both chipped it. Have not tried on anything else. If they cut hard rock well I would think they would last longer because of the taller rim. Too bad your saw is not 10".

What grit do you think lasts the longest cutting agate and jasper, the red(325/400), black 270/325, or the 303 80/100? Ya I'm at 8" w/ water so no big slabs or anything, and I know the blades last longer with oil cooling but I probably won't move to that with this saw. It would be mostly trimming and shaping, cutting windows. Thanks for the info about the grit sizes.

I am guessing the 303 will cut faster but rim is shorter so I am guessing it will wear out faster. The thicknesses are all different too. Red 8" is .023" core/.031 rim. The black is .031" core/.044" rim. 303c for slabbing I would use the .032" core/rim slightly ticker. Have not tried the red or black on rock yet. Had a customer that used the red blades on a 4" trim saw and said they lasted longer than 303C. Rim at least twice as tall.
