I just received my lorton 33b tumblers. Now I'm looking for media and stones. Anyone recommend a good site for them? Where do you get yours from?

The Rock Shed is a good place for both. Finding your own rocks is fun too, if you live in a place that has decent rocks and isn't covered in snow. What type of media are you looking for? I only do rough tumbling in my rotary tumblers and I use a vibratory tumbler for everything else. You can use either ceramic or plastic media in rotary tumblers, but I don't know what most people here prefer. Vibratory tumblers only use ceramic media, so that's what I use.

If you want to support a Michigan business, you can order from Kingsley North. But then you have to pay sales tax. Where are you in Michigan? I'm in Alpena. There are lots of good rocks in the state. I prefer going up to Lake Superior, but you're a bit late for that this year.

Wondering if being from Michigan is really worthy of an exclamation point.

Wondering if being from Michigan is really worthy of an exclamation point. Yes! It is! You wouldn't understand, because you're not from Michigan. We have white Christmases up here.

Wondering if being from Michigan is really worthy of an exclamation point. Bah-humbug lol. After getting a vibe tumbler I started off using my trim scraps of agates and hard jaspers as media - then they started getting stolen by the missus as soon as they got shiny and pretty... Now I use ceramic from Ebay. No noticeable difference - my tumbling results still suck just as bad.

I bought a bucket of the plastic pellets that is used some kind of a air rifle. Walmart had a sale and I bought 10,000 or a bucket full. Very hard pellets. They have been tumbled for a month and still look good. They only cost me 10 bucks. Don't know if that's good but it's not bad, for me.

Some float and some you don't see. Are they just below the surface, don't know. If the slurry is thick you won't get the real answer. I will put them in water and see what's going on. Will update tomorrow. A PM Because I don't want to hijack a thread.
