Does anybody know of rock shops/lapidary suppliers in the Houston Texas area?
It would be nice if this web site had a comprehensive directory of rock shops with street addresses and phone numbers.

Rockhead, here's a link to US Rock Shops and Mineral Dealers www.osomin.com/shop1.htm. There are several in the Houston area. If I was in that area, the first place I would go to would be Johnson's Rock Shop in Livingston. If I remember correctly, the article I read said one should call in advance because it's kinda hard to find and to make sure they are open. It's been awhile since I read the article and I can't even remember where I read it, wish I could. The article said Mr. Johnson is probably the most knowledgable guy in Texas when it comes to rocks and that there is a bit of everything in his shop. The pics of his shop and surrounding area with all his rocks were incredible! HUGE rocks of all kinds. The article made me want to jump in the truck and go spend the day there. And one of these days, I might just do that 300+ mile round trip. llana

Rockhead...as an addition to what llanago said, Johnsons Rock Shop is about 16 mi east of Livingston on Hwy 190. There is a convenience store/gas station/souvenier shop ( ) right where you turn off of Hwy 190. Stop there and ask for directions. Everyone there knows where it is located ( I think the name of the community is Indian Springs ??). And as llanago said, he has LOTS of 'stuff' there. Good luck. duke

Cheech and Chong? ;D cookie Cookie...there are a couple of twists and turns off of the main road and a few small signs that point the way to the rock shop, but the people at the store can give better directions than what I had posted...that was why I suggested that they ask at the store. duke
