I was told that fluorite had a high Mohs rating and could be tumbled with agates. I kept them in a separate barrel anyway. I did course grit for only 3 days since it made them nicely rounded with little loss of material. However, on the second stage, I left them in for about 6 days and they ended up as pebbles!!! Anyone know how long fluorite needs to be tumbled with out it disappearing? Thanks! JenniJ

You must also remember that fluorite is one of the minerals that has perfect cleavage. It will cleave easily.Without enough plastic pellets in all stages you may end up with a tumbler barrel full of perfect little cubes.

YouTube has a video on fluorite and the guy takes a small chisel( by hand) and clips away the outside layer, it looks like colored glass(neat).

I am a huge proponent of throw it all in the tumbler and leave it for a month or two with 46/70 grit. DoNe that with flouritechnology and calcite etc and never saw them again! LOL
