Very nice! I appreciate your satisfaction with the wrap that you created - literally - from start to finish! Once I'm proficient at making decent cabs learning to wrap will be my next learning project.

Yes, fractures showing towards the end of the process are frustrating, so I consider them practice cabs. LOL

I believe fractures show up due to the vibes of polishing opening pre-existing lines of weakness. 3000 might just do it (has for me on chrysocolla) but coarser wheels definitely will. My rule for larimar is to use nothing more coarse than 600.
Great cabs and wraps.

There's nothing wrong with freeforms! They are great for wraps and they are interesting to look at. Having cracks open up while you are polishing is the worst!!! What really sucks is when you are a 50,000 final polish and you overheat the cab- thus cracking something that, had you just left it at 14k, would have been awesome! Ugh! Don't ask how I know. I had to label my wheels, too. I can never remember the grit number. Doh! I like your wrapping. You have a freestyle attitude in your pieces.

Very nice pieces. Do you think that the fractures are being caused by the 3k or revealed? I know I sometimes see scratches at 3k that were already present.
Peace,
Rich

Tela you have no idea how excited I am to be visiting with you! Your wraps are a true inspiration to me. Since you mentioned it... is it possible I'm pushing to hard and creating the fractures? My free style attitude comes more from my ADD I'm afraid 😂 I also have my wheels marked. Mainly because I work on far to many cabs at a time an I have my dop stick holders marked. I have a love/hate relationship with my 50,000 grit wheel.

I have a love/hate relationship with my 50,000 grit wheel. Thank you No, I doubt you are pushing too hard..... maybe too hard that will wear your wheels out quicker. Let the diamonds work- don't push too hard. More likely, you are just hitting hidden fractures. It happens to everyone. As you get more experience, they will become much more visible to you before you start cabbing. I have a spin on 50,000 wheel, but I rarely use it. I started with the diamond paste. I think my wheel is actually contaminated. Usually, if I really want to go to the 50k, I'll jump on the flat lap and use paste. (Very carefully!) I'm ADD, too. I tend to jump around to different things a lot. I get bored too easy.
