I just put a small piece of blue painter's tape in the lid near a wingnut. Get a watch with a second hand and count how many times it goes around in a minute. It's easy enough to count with a low RPM motor, don't have a high speed one (yet - just bought another one) to try.

Tape seems like an amazing solution. Doesnt leave a permanent mark.

Hey Mel, is this your first 15 lb tumbler? Asking because you will want to get spare drive pulley belts to have on hand. They stretch and then slip, so need changing every now and then. If this is your first one like this let me know as there are a few other things worth mentioning, but not worth my typing if you already know the machine.

I have one BUT I started it for the first time yesterday so I am a total newbie!! I had to have my son show me what a dang bearing is. The instructions said oil the bearings before first use. But didn't show where it was 😂 I have many talents but anything motor oriented I'm ignorant.

The main reason for finding this site was to learn more about tumbling. I have 2 million rocks an I can't/don't want to cab them all. So I have a thumblers B model and the 2, 3lb one. Haven't used anything in my shop as much as my saws and Genie.

okey dokie, worth the typing then! I've got 5 15 pounders running right now. I'll work on a list of stuff I've figured out along the way and get them off to you in a PM. Nothing critical, just handy tips & ideas.

Nothing sux more than buying a new piece of equipment for it not to work. So it may do us all some good to hear some tips and pointers.

Thanks for the concern. The machine was so inexpensive and built similarly to the Thumblers that I can make it work. For a first tumbler, I would have felt jilted with the same feeling that many have with Harbor Freight stuff.

The seller just listed 7 more of these 15 pound tumbler units www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-15-lb-Rotary-Brass-Tumbler-/282346964251?hash=item41bd30c51b:g:seIAAOSwLEtYfadpMy 2nd one is in the mail on the way to me. This may not be a Thumler's, but for half the price it's close enough! Remember this is the HIGH SPEED model. No problems with the one I have, but I've only had it a week or so. I am not getting the advertised 40 RPM, but for the price ... I'm all good! If your get one that runs at full speed - 40 RPM - it would pretty much only be good for coarse grinding - IMHO You would have to cushion the heck out of the load to do fine grits or polish - again my opinion. The listing has the Make Offer option. I offered $100 plus shipping on my 2nd one. ($110 total) Seller countered with $115 (original price) but with FREE shipping. ($115 total) Saved 10 bucks by making an offer. Bet NO one else would ship something this big for 10 bucks! just sayin'
