Was looking to cut some old stock Baker Ranch Thundereggs and it just reminded me that if any of you folks happen to be traveling through Deming New Mexico, I would recommend stopping at the Museum on the Main street and taking a look at the Thunderegg collection from the late Geode Kid, Paul Colburn. It is something special. Well worth the visit.
Status of the Baker Ranch is uncertain, it been closed for a bit and not sure if it will re-open. Some of the red banded Thundereggs that I have seen from there are really nice. I was lucky enough to buy some old stock Baker Ranch material and I am hoping to cut a few soon. Waiting on a garage machinist friend to finish a Geode Clamp he is designing/building for me.

That place would be awesome to visit!!! As for the "Baker" eggs,I tried buying some a few years ago, they wouldn't sell any in the rough-wanted to cut them all....I thought that to be kind of arrogant! The "Baker" eggs have some beauty to them, for sure!

I was in Deming this past June for a week and we visited the Geode Kids rock shop now run by his partner. Although I wasn't looking to buy any uncut I believe he had some for sale, but on the pricey side. He did have a table of already cut small ones and bought about a gallon of them. Forget the price but figured that already cut was a plus. Been polishing them on the Diamond Belts. The Partner is a very interesting fellow and very knowledgeable and has quite a collection inside of what can only be described as "Desert Rustic" Shop.
Was also lucky enough to buy a couple of buckets old stock Baker Ranch material about a year ago at a good price. Hoping to start cutting soon.
