I am not a Chicken Little type of person, not a gloom and doomer. Not saying the worst is going to happen, but smart enough to see the writing on the wall. Picture a morning when you grab a cup of coffee, sit down in front of the 'puter, and go to the RTH forum. What if it is gone? Not going to be a very good day, is it?
Rather than sit and wait for something to happen to us, we should be trying to figure out some way to overcome this (sale of RTH). Like jamesp pointed out yesterday he would rather stoop to FB than loose this crowd. I think a lot of us feel the same way. Don't know if FB is the answer, but doing nothing probably not the smartest move.
Walt manofglass mentioned to me it would be a good idea for members to get contact info (addresses, email addys, etc) for their forum friends should this forum go away. I think it makes a lot of sense.
But I'll go you one better - I propose that we make a list of all current members, with contact info, addresses, URLs of their websites, etc. Minimally, a name and email addy to contact you, don't give out what you don't feel comfortable sharing. I will offer to assemble and keep safe this list on a thumb drive in my safe. It would never leave my control, never be made public, no info ever sold, no email addys spammed.
I think should the worst happen (RTH gets bought by someone with the intent of burying it), it would be good to have a way to contact everyone should we have to abandon our home of the last ten years, and start a new forum. It would sure be swell if we could get all the content from the last ten years, but... baby steps.
I have had my gmail address on my profile page the last couple years, it has never been a problem. If you wish to be included on this list, either PM the info to me or send it to my gmail address. What say you? A least, if the forum should just disappear, there will be a way to contact you. Jean
