I am not sure but the sites are bermed, then covered in Spagnum moss to leach through then shallow cattail pond. Some of them must be acres big. I just seen pics as not allowed on property.

Same process occurring all over the US. Said tailing ponds become mass habitats for wildlife and clean water eventually. Same thing happening at kaolin and potash mines down here Billy. Killer fishing holes and hunting grounds mining companies have opened to the public. Basically man made wetlands. Water purifiers. Works for almost every pollution us humans generate except nuclear waste. No answer of that one. Milan Tennessee is a particularly disturbing site. In the 40's the govt. pumped munition pollutants into the water table intentionally to get rid of it. Not sure what they were thinking, but it ruined the ground water with some real nasty stuff. ntrl.ntis.gov/NTRL/dashboard/searchResults/titleDetail/ADA334994.xhtmlSurface pollutants and groundwater pollutants are two different animals.
