Hey... do you use a slurry thickener with the AO grits?
Moving big rock from SiC to AO 60. Not sure whether to add anything. Don't have clay. Have kitty litter, but kinda worried about the sand in it being too coarse - yes no? Rock ain't all that yet, so I could run a week or two with kitty litter then move on without it.
If I weren't trying this AO, I would be moving from 46/70 to 60/90 for a couple weeks. Maybe I should do that anyway before going to AO - will go have a smoke, eyeball the rock some more, and think on that.
Big rock alone in barrel with fresh ceramics. Overestimated rock weight. probably more like 8 pounds. Still big! Took pics, too busy to do pic stuff now - later.
Suggestions from your experience?

Decided to go with 60/90 for a couple/few weeks.
Would still like to know about AO grit and use of thickeners.
Thanks.

Decided to go with 60/90 for a couple/few weeks. Would still like to know about AO grit and use of thickeners. Thanks. No thickener Bob. For the reason you cited(silica/sand). Just lots of protective smalls or in your case ceramic media should work. You may go low on water for the first day to make sure the AO 60 gets stuck to the rocks and your water is dirty after a day. You can add more AO 60 at day 2 or 3 just to chop some more meat off. I never have had to though. The AO 80 removed any thing SiC 30 could dish out. Even before the SiC 30 had a chance to break down. The 60/90 could only help. 8 pounds, a trophy. Fingers crossed that it will work. GOT to see the finished product. Question, did your ceramic media wear a lot running 8 pounder with 45 grit ? would not surprise.

Thank you sir. Sounds easy enough! So no sugar or borax or nuttin' huh... will give this a try as barrels progress.
A little wear on the ceramics. I save them all to reuse with specific grit stages. Have tupperware containers full of worn ceramics. Will wear away to nothing over time. Gonna go hit that ceramics distributor in Tampa soon (as my on hand stock is running low) and see if I can get some rubbermaid totes full of ceramics. See what they have and what I can get away with. Going to try your trick of bringing tumbled rocks with me for bribing purposes.

Thinking about moving our Sabre there full time for our quick get away living quarters.

Maybe we can go hunt some agatized coral 🤞🏻 We would have to walk all the way to my back porch for the Withlacoochee River type and to my back yard for 55 gal barrels of Tampa Bay corals. Hope the mosquitoes aren't too bad! A blind man could find agatized corals at my house.

Why climb a mountain? I want to see if I can. Actually, I know I can, I just want to do it. I like tumbling big rocks, need a 40 pound tumbler to see how big I can go! This gives me something to do until I can figure out where to put a sphere machine.
