When the chucks are rather large we have to take drastic measures getting the wood to the saw. first picture getting it close with crawler. second picture getting the wood in position. notice the blocking under front end load so that I could use the chain hoist. last picture is after I glued it to the plywood on the saw to get parallel cuts to the last one. this was a few years ago.

yowzer!! What do you do with all these big flats/slabs that you cut after you polish them? Do you have a business or web site where you sell them?
ETA: Do you have pictures of your polishing operation that you could post?

The house is filling up. I don't sell anything. The original piece in the saw belongs to a friend and I was cutting it for him. I did get a slab of it that he polished for me.

I don't have any pictures on photobucket it seems but I flat lap with a 30 rotary lapping plate with silicon carbide grit and then sand and polish with a hand held polishing using diamond pads and final polish cerium oxide.

That's a really slick idea using the tire chain to hang on to an otherwise very difficult part to handle. Nice slab, size and colors.
