Good timing. Yes, I received a response from Etsy and they indicated that they would be following up with buyer and investigate the issue with them directly. The response was pretty generic, with a link to their short help article on review extortion. But they must have done something, as the buyer shortly followed up with a 5* review. Hopefully that's the end of it.

On Etsy, I had a buyer order up a chain necklace I had made. I checked her ratings. Awful at first glance. Then I checked to see how she earned all those terrible ratings. Turns out she frequently ordered big orders of say 50 candles, but then didn't follow through. Candle seller gave her a black mark for each candle. Buyer supplied goodies to local school. Yes, she should have been more careful, but I think just one negative would have worked with an explanation. She gave me a most terrific positive feedback. Good luck, Drummond. Looks like blackmail. How are you able to look at a buyer's feedback on Etsy? I'd love to be able to see what kind of reviews a buyer has left other sellers in the past.

Ever thought of throwing a couple tootsie rolls in there? A la Rock Shed. Just might take a four to a five. ETA: of course, it doesn't HAVE to be a tootsie roll. Actually, like a lot of sellers, I include a free cab. I have plenty that don't make the cut for the shop. Wow, free cab along with the finished piece? That's very generous. I see a lot of those 3* and 4* reviews that are something along the lines of "It's great, I love it!" and just have to shake my head.

I have plenty of cabs, that I consider 2nd's, to give away. It's really no skin off my nose because my conscious wouldn't let me sell them as firsts.

You used to be able to see buyer reviews and review buyers. You can't anymore. That's a shame. I think that if a buyer can review a seller, the seller should be able to do the same. Like the good ole' days of Ebay before they ruined the review system for sellers.

I just got a 4 star review. The text says "Beautiful stone, fast and prompt delivery." Go figure. Some people just don't hand out 5 stars. It goes both ways at times too - I just had a gal leave a STELLAR review ... then contact me minutes later and ask if she could return it because it was too thin and she couldn't use it. If the customer says it was too dark or the wrong color etc. I usually just tell them to keep it and maybe it will grow on them over time - but this one was pretty certain that it was of zero use to her. It will be interesting to see if she returns the gift too haha.

She gave me a fantastic review and then convoed straight away that it broke. I don't get it.
