Beautiful specimens in that bucket. Do you tumble any? Chuck Some times I face them, don't do any tumbling. Need to slice some up and make some cabs. Might do that with some of these

Buckets full of agates. I'm jealous. I go camping every summer to look for agates. Last summer I spent 20 hours on the beach and came home with an handful of agates, most of them not that great. I'll do it again though.
Do you have access to gravel pits to hunt in? I'd love to do that some day.

The lady who brought me the bucket and her sister might be up to bringing you around if you're serious. I do have access to a pit on the north shore by Lutsen if you're that way. The operator there finds them all the time. I only found one and a black agate, unkanite, and red jaspers.

That laker looks very nice....also. My thumb nail has a dark place on it too. It must have something to do with rocks or maybe the hammer.:)

I like this one very much. Ouch, my thumb? In the light it has a shadow that will go around it, hence the shadow effect. If I knew how to post a video I could show it. Maybe I will try and figure it out this afternoon. At least my fingernails were clean today. I have lost two fingernails in the last two years, they always seem to be caught between two things and like spiceman said sometimes one of the thing is a hammer. My advice is keep away from pinch points.

Could sound crazy but I do it and it works. If I smash my finger real hard and you see blood under the nail. By hand, I use a .090 drill(3/32") Twist it with by hand(only) just to break thru and let the blood out and the pressure. You don't loose your finger nail.

I have used a hot needle also...got to have on safety glasses though...lots of pressure.
