i won an auction (should have done my homework first) from a seller called rainboroc.
the picture looked OK, but the items were mediocre at best, the shipping was outrageous and i'm surprised the stuff got here in one piece the way it was sent.
i was tempted to leave neutral or negative feedback, so i left postive feedback with a mildly dissatisfied flavored comment.
i've had exceptional results with most if not all of my winning bids, so this was rather disappointing.
2 cents worth here, KD

Luckily I have had good experiences, except for shipping. Also be sure to check prices elsewhere before bidding. I bought a tumbler, which was cheaper than all others on e-bay. I found out later I could buy the same tumbler direct from distributor for $20 less. Terry

Hi KD,
I am right there with you ... when it comes to "rainboroc".
I have purchased from them in the past and I always get poor to mediocre slabs ... generally they are riddled with fractures and are not of much use to me!
Needless to say ... I don't shop with them anymore.

Good for you NM! I would have done the same thing. I think I would have gone a few steps further and report the guy as a fraud seller.
When he posts up an auction and someone bids on it, there is a legally binding contract between the 2 of you. He is to sell you the item and you are to buy it. Anyone that breaks this contract can get into serious trouble.
One buyer I will never buy from again is anseladam1. In the auction he claimed that the bid was for SCOOPS of large rough gems (mix of rubies, emeralds, sapphires, citrines, rough diamonds and just about every gem out there). I looked at the shipping charges and they were $7 for the US... so I figured $10 at the most for Canada (It turned out to be $12). I figured at that price for shipping, the order of rocks would be the very minimum of 1 pound. So I bid on the auction and won. When I got them, I got a 3" X 4" ziplock bag filled with potting soil, and inside? It looked as though the guy swept the street and threw in a pinch of sand and 3 tiny (and I do mean tiny) pebbles that that was collected in his dust pan. Price of postage was less then $1. Without the soil, all the rocks I got, bunched together, was smaller then a dime. Boy what a rip off that was. I'm still trying to get my refund.

What serious trouble? ebay protects sellers, and cares for them more than the bidders! At most he will get a email from ebay telling him not to exclude bidders or they will spank his peepee. I just looked up that anseladam1, the guy has 263 neg. in the last 6 months and 48, in the last month, but still has a score of 97.4, what a joke.....

earthdog. You take them to square trade, and if nothing gets resolved there you sick the cops on them, take them to small claims court. etc... there's many things you can do, providing you are willing to pay. a lot of people don't go that route because it's money they don't want to spend. But there ARE people that do everything possible to get their way (no matter how much it costs)
I had a problem with a seller just before Christmas, and in the end he got booted out of ebay (for good, ebay claims). But what stops the guy from opening another account under false information?

I didn't know all that, Alice. My brother in law does alot on ebay and so do his friends, I know they also play games like bump each others bids up. I also got ripped from a seller that has a store where he sells stuff you bring him, on ebay, he charged me 24.00 for shipping on an item I won for 25.00, ups quoted me shipping of 10.50, I screwed up by not asking first how much it was to send... If they don't have a calculator or state how much it is then I won't bid.

Hey everyone, Sorry for bringing this to the front again, but Raniboroc is who I bought that beautiful big piece of Crazy Lace from. The only problem is, the auction for for several small pieces. I told him I needed smaller pieces that I could cut, no threats, I told him I loved the piece and would not leave bad feedback, and he still sent me 8 1/2 lbs more in small cuttable size pieces and it is just beautiful. Most Ebay sellers will do their best to try to satisfy their customers, but this is the first time I have had someone go to that extreme. This is the second time I have bought from Rainboroc and I am very satisified. Trish
