Whats up all? I am a little late getting these up on the board. These got finished last weekend but I wasn't able to get around to getting photos until today. I am still running 60/90 in a rotary then 2 teaspoons of AO 80 in the Lot-o for 3 days and 1/2 teaspoon of AO 14,000 for 2 days. Enjoy! 1. 2. 3. Tumbling competition material. I hate this stuff so much, it infuriates me. 4. 5. Some material from txrockhunter6. 7.From txrockhunter, I believe this was labeled 4th of July Mountain 8. 9. Conglomerate 10. 11. 12. 13. 14. Smalls Thanks for looking! Jake

Those look great, Jake. It's hard to tell from the pictures, but your contest rocks look pretty good to me. Mine are on hold while my Lot-O works on other things. I'm frustrated too.

Rob,
The shine on them is uneven. Parts shine up nicely, others undercut and are dull. There seems to be no consistency from piece to piece. Areas that polish on one rock will undercut on another. I am gonna send them 5 rocks, just hope I have 5 worth sending when its all said and done.

I ran a couple of bad rocks with lots of holes through the Lot-O. I think there were only about four of them. I think one shined up, but the others didn't. I found the same thing as you, it's like they're all different types of rock. They sure would be pretty if they'd shine up.

Nice shiny batches you have there , very well done . Give your competition rocks a good coat of lacquer , see how the judges like that .

I had my best five all the way through polish and one rock looked great on three sides and one side did not polish. The rock apperared the same all around so I I have no idea what caused it. Chuck

Great work, Jake! I really like #12. Is it petrified wood or rhyolite? Thanks for posting & keep'em coming!

Great work, Jake! I really like #12. Is it petrified wood or rhyolite? Thanks for posting & keep'em coming! Jeremy I believe 12 is petrified wood. I have a few thin cuts of petrified wood that I got from somewhere but 12 is the only one that has a pinkish color to it. The rest are more natural browns and tans. Jake

I really like the patterns on #11 - do you know what it is?
You have gotten further than I have on your contest rocks. They are very frustrating. Several that I have left in for just a little more time in the 60/90 have opened up rot in the rock where there was smoothness prior to that. I pulled those out and will just finish them off because I didn't want it to get any worse. I have found some really pretty ones. We still have lots of time so most of mine I am letting roll on in the rough.

We still have lots of time so most of mine I am letting roll on in the rough. I have had that happen with some of mine too. They start out looking decent and then pits open up during the 60/90 stage. I have just pulled them out and set them to the side until I figure out what to do. I probably have about 2 lbs left. I have just been putting a few stones in to bring my volume back up in my barrels and see how they come out. I am trying to come up with a plan of attack for these, but with the undercutting I feel like its a lot of luck.
