Yesterday my wife and myself were talking about things we could do with my polished rocks. Then I got to thinking, what if I just left them in random places for kids to find? Around my house there are a number of playgrounds, especially at schools. So I came up with this idea. For bigger rocks I think I am gonna punch a hole in the card and tie it to the stone with some ribbon. For smaller rocks I think I am just gonna tape the rock to the card. It's supposed to be fairly nice and rain free this week so I am going to get out and place some around. I think I am going to start with the playground at the school where I teach and then branch out from there. A few days later I will check to see if anyone has picked them up. Hopefully some kids will get some enjoyment out of them and it lightens my load at home. Jake

Awesome idea. I'm always leaving rocks like a crumb trail wherever I go. Keep us posted.

I went to an arrowhead making get together yesterday. Vendors set up on a grass field. My buddy was one of the vendors. I tried a child experiment. Tossed 5 pounds of tumbles in the grass surrounding his booth. The kids went wild doing an Easter egg hunt around his booth. Parents followed, sales ensued lol.
Refreshing and fun, best use of tumbles so far. Kids rock.
I think he will be ordering tumbles or making his own for the next show.

Just think of all the pain and suffering you could be inflicting on the poor souls , when simple interest snowballs into a fullblown addiction . But if they are informed about where they can seek professional therapy , ( RTH ) , then it is a great idea . Seriously , I think you have a fantastic idea . Could also try a spot of hot glue on the card to hold the rock on , tape could let loose with humidity .

That is a fun idea. You could put them in geocaches too, if you're into that.

I have hotglued several thousand pieces of serpentine to information cards for past club shows. Side one had the rock and a short blurb about our state rock. Side two had where and when our club met.
Really like your idea of placing your rock cards in play grounds and the like.
Hot glue works best and is fast.

That is a fun idea. You could put them in geocaches too, if you're into that. That's actually why I started tumbling again. I was going to make "swag" bags with polished rocks. Still waiting on my first batch to finish. I have plenty of rocks that I could use now, but they are in different display vessels around the house. OP, I think it's a neat idea, but the skeptic cynic in me wonders about "choke hazards." I know rocks exist everywhere, and kids could put anything in their mouths, but I wonder about the unwatched little ones thinking they might be something like candy since they're so shiny. The card certainly helps to eliminate that possibility. . On second thought, don't mind me. My mind just works that way - I'm a glass half-empty sort of person. Regards. Dave

I think this is a wonderful idea. Once our polishing stage is done on the rocks that my daughter picked up from her playground at school, I will definitely do something similar when she takes the rocks for "Show and Tell".

Very good idea. Just wondering did you write on the card what type of rock it is? Of course you have to stop somewhere.
Again, a good idea.

I think it's a great idea!!! Kids are really drawn to rocks. My youngest grandson is 12 now and he still likes rocks. The others are older, but still really interested in my rocks.
I knew of a lady who was a long haul truck driver. She used to leave wire wrapped pieces all around. She just liked to do it and imagined that it would brighten a person's day. I can see little kids being utterly ecstatic to find a shiny rock with a note attached.

I didn't put what the type of the rock is, although I am thinking of putting the state or country of origin. My hope is that they would take it home and try to find out what it is with their parents. I was going to put some out yesterday but it rained and it is supposed to rain today also. I guess I didn't pay enough attention to the weather man. Jake

Not sure what the question is here. The card is nothing more than a use of personification for the rock. Its meant to look like the rock found its way there, and wasn't placed by me.
