My refurbished work table. I am going to try to teach myself art glass and after having a glass bead starter kit for a week the only thing I have accomplished is setting up my table, breaking some glass and spending a lot of time on utube. Going to be a bit more of a learning curve than some of the other things I have learned in the past. Not sure if my patience or lack there of will get me through this one. My work space sure is pretty though. Jim

I think the rule of thumb for producing pretty beads is that you must first use up about ten lbs off glass making ugly ones. I know it was several years before I made anything worthwhile. Even now after ten years of doing hot glass I make a lot of ugly ones.

Hey I made very pretty glass beads st Quartzite one year. We rolled red hot little copper tube in different glass powders! It was great fun and super pretty. Another way was with a glass rod but I broke most of those and they were not as pretty.

If you persist at hot glass then this is how you look at the four year point. This is my hot glass area after I had cleaned up for a photograph. I now have about four or five times the glass and a bunch of beautiful beads that I can't sell. Seems to be analogous to making semiprecious stone cabs.
