never even heard of it...you got a photo of this stuff? maybe you tumble it like a dry martini, just wave the coarse grit over it and just jump right in at fine sanding stage? what is the lowest MOH anyone has sucessfully tumbled in here?

I have tumbled calcite. I have tumbled selenite, I have cabbed calcite and faceted selenite. I am not certain about that stone, however a mohs 2 does polish well. Have to be picky about grit and chunks contaminating the mast.

I ordered some Gerdus. But, I am still waiting for it to show up! With my luck, the rocks will show up while I am in Virginia. I told my wife to have leave the rocks on the side of the driveway. I doubt anyone would steal it. It they do, they'll get a hernia picking up the drums!
In any case, someone else commented that they found a website of carved skulls from stitchtite.
John, I hope mine looks like your picture.

Hey John, Sorry to say, but my rocks still haven't been delivered. On Wedneday, I called the trucking company. They said the driver made it to California. I told them that the phone number is wrong on the bill of lading. And, that maps on the Internet shows streets that don't exist. In any case, my rocks should be here anyday. For the verdite, contact WilliamC, I think he bought some verdite from Gerdus. Here is a link to gerdus's latest list of rocks that don't show up on his website. I have the price list if you're interested. www.mineralgallery.co.za/march2004stocklist.htmCal Cal
