I just finished another letter opener last night so I took a few photos. I included some pictures of the one my wife has been using for a few years along with it. She uses it daily and I believe she likes it better then all the rock jewelry I have given her.   The rocks are put on with two part epoxy and to be 100 percent sure they never come off I carve the mating surfaces to give a bunch of extra bite.  Thanks for looking Chuck |

Nice letter openers. Great pudding stones. I always just rip into my envelopes with my bare hands like an animal.

Nice pieces Chuck. Was the pudding stone in the one you made your wife naturally darker, or is it developing a slight patina from use? Looks to be holding up well.

The matrix varies quite a bit on some of them. Some stark white, some almost peachy and some darker. That one for my wife was a killer piece that has very little matrix. I have a hard time bringing myself to use top quality slabs for these because they a big (2.125 x 1.625). Each on of these cabs would have made a couple nice pieces of jewelry. Chuck |
