Check out (darn nice) polish after 18 hours in vibe with AO 22. Makes no sense to me. Will transfer to AO 14,000 polish for final shine. Coarse AO makes messing up very difficult. W/out so much glare. Nice Rio jasper cobble. Check out what it was running in for 18 hours. AO 22 particles recovered from clean out into tray. Started with 2 tablespoons. Dog hair and dog whisker to compare size of giant particles. Apparently the contact points of the rough particles are smooth. If this rock was run in the vibe with SiC 22 it would be rough and have pits instead of a shine. Virgin AO 22 much sharper.

Do you have a routine down to where you have three steps?
30 SiC rotary
80 AO rotary (or some similar AO)
14,000 AO Vibe
And done?

Mind officially boggled.... Those particles GOT to have worn to smooth contact points. ONLY way that could happen. I was attempting to shave a layer off on the other big rock running with it. So much for that idea. Keep in mind, most of our ceramic media is solid fired aluminum oxide powder (ceramic). These qualify for tiny media....they just happen to be big giant powder particles, Technically, you should be able to polish Mohs 7 agate using AO ceramic media without adding AO 14,000 polish. If you kept running this AO 22 it should wear into balls and ovals.

Do you have a routine down to where you have three steps? 30 SiC rotary 80 AO rotary (or some similar AO) 14,000 AO Vibe And done? Over a dozen runs just like that. Always SiC 30 in rotary. Always- 2-3 days in vibe using AO 80 w/Borax and 18 hours in vibe using AO 14,000 w/Borax. Or- 10 days in the rotary with AO 80 and then 18 hours in vibe w/polish. Often there is little difference in the polish run from the aO 80 run.

Have three 15 lb barrels running SiC 46/70 or 60/90 doing the coarse grind / shaping thing. A couple of them already have a coarse AO grit mixed in just for giggles. Mostly larger rocks. All three will move to either AO 60 or 80 as the next step. Interesting (exciting) results from the jamesp laboratories are inspiring. Hope for similar results here on the RTH southern front.
