jamesp 1/6HP 1725 @ Chuck, fourscrews removes the splash guards then grease fittings are easy. Access did not concern me as much as distance between zerk fitting and the leg of the tumbler. Might be perfectly fine. hard to tell from a skewed photo. Only mentioned because I have been there. Chuck

Design flaw.....

use an idler pulley off motor to cut rpm say in half. then up to your shafts. I thought about using a center idler pulley off a drill press on mine but then decided to just turn 1 out of wood.

I took a piece of garden hose and increased the diameter of the shaft to increase the speed and now it runs about 47 rpm. The other tumbler I used duct tape, easier to adjust the speed.

Only if you have material to remove. That's why I used duct tape, I could add or remove some to adjust the speed. But, if you are already down to the metal it's tough to make it slower.

Your barrel speed is 80 rpm? That should round stuff off real quick like. Russ Haven't tested actual. But 80 is the calculated rpm. And rounding stuff of real quick? Ain't that a good goal?

That is a very good goal. So what size barrels are they?

Finally running. Need a couple belts to get the top tier running. But for now, at least I can get a barrel or two rolling. Pics to follow. Lol, i had to laugh when i seen this? I feel like i contributed to your build. You made a comment on my vintage collection find, saying you where going to get this forever tumbler going so your daughter doesn't do the same with yours? That will get the job done. Great build , and your welcome for me lighting that fire under your butt!hahaha!

Scott, I wish I had this type pulley on the transfer to the second set of shafts. Both driven and receiving. Maybe one(length) belt could be moved to the various ratios. Similar to 18 Inch Covington saw. This is an adjustable alternative. Best for pinion on motor due to small size. It is adjustable for about a 40% speed difference. But requires re-tensioning belt in most cases.

It's only good for a couple rough tumbles but the bottle that a protein powder comes in works great. Wide mouth with a srew on lid and purple too. My youngest kid takes that, I'm not active enough to take a protein drink. Gets me too fat.

I do use the air conditioning more though.

Won't work to slow it down though. It will, if you put the garden hose on the barrel instead of the shaft .........

Scott, do you have a keyway holding your pulleys to the shaft or just an allen/hex screw?

Scott, do you have a keyway holding your pulleys to the shaft or just an allen/hex screw? 90° opposing set screws. Keyway complicated machining and added expenses. I used cold rolled 3/4" steel Didn't even loctite them. Although if a problem arises, this is an easy fix.
