I am looking to order some rough tumbling rock, not sure what kind yet.
In your experiences, who has the best prices on rough and who has the most reasonable shipping charges in USA?
I am pretty new at this so would welcome your input on your experiences.
Thanks Tonya

I have used the Gem Shop, The ROck Shed and Banjo. All gave me outstanding service and fair prices. Banjo is very kind to the people on the board (price wise, shipping wise, and quality wise) I would contact hime first and see what kinds of specials he has! The New post office flat rate box ($7.70) hold a lot of rock (almost 30 pounds in some cases) and that is probably your cheapest way to get a lot of stuff!

I have a good selection of petrified wood that I offer to members of this group for only $1.00 a pound plus shipping. I can usualy get 20+ pounds to a box with shipping rate of $7.70 flat rate. Smaller amounts will be a little expensive in the long run. For example 10 pounds will cost almost $6.00 to ship...so best to get more pounds at one time. At this time all I have to offer is pet wood. I have some big enough for slabbing.....and lots of smaller stuff you can break up for tumbling. There are a few people from this group who will vouch for the quality and quanty of my pet wood....feel free to ask any questions.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. Everyone is so helpful here, I am so happy to have found this place.
I ordered some stuff from phoenix and banjo and that should keep me going for quite awhile. I can't wait till I get all I ordered. (though I might have to hide when the mailman comes......LOL)
This is going to be fun. I am going to take picture between each stage so I can see the differences and hopefull (if I dont mess up too bad) will have some beautiful pics in the end.
I know I am getting pretty excited over a bunch of "rocks" but I think everyone here knows how I feel.
Thanks Tonya

It is fun! But, be prepared to want more, and more and more rocks! All kinds of different rocks! You can never have enough rough rocks! I just wanted to add to the above posters. I have purchased from almost all of them. They are At Sellers and great quality of rock rough. You won't be disappointed. I can bet my paycheck on it!

Tonya, I now have experience of ordering from some members of this group, BanjoCreek and Phoenix. I strongly recommend both of them Banjo has wonderful rough in many many varieties for a decent price. It is the best value I have ever received. Phoe has Petrified wood for a low price. Both give you what you would expect, what is promised and a bit more; you can TRUST them. Both of them give you an honest deal on shipping. The Post Office has fixed rate shipping( up to 15-20 pounds); these two deliver rocks in those boxes. Other vendors I have dealt with...Montana agate from Kathy from Glendive on Ebay(nice quantity for the money). Frank Amyx from Utah on Ebay(some different agates I have not seen anywhere else). That is all I can remember right now. Charles

guest: I don't know where you're comming from! I ordered 6# of different rough from Banjo and every piece was individually wraped and labeled (not just dumped in a box) in 3 days---He really cares. Why don't you come out from the dark side and become a nember? Jim

Same here, I ordered rock on Sat, had it on Tuesday, I live in Michigan, Banjo lives in Arizona. It takes me longer to get a letter, from there. Terry

i've never ordered from richardson's so can't give a + or - there but i don't see how that connects to trying to bash banjo unjustly. he ships fast. he has some great rocks. but the truth of the matter is based on the wonderful stuff he's sent me, i wouldn't care if he didn't ship fast. i have yet to have a need to have any rough overnighted or express shipped. things that make you go hmmmmmmm about this guest: forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=Vendors&thread=1113561306&page=1#1113561306kim

Kim, I had the same thought about ole Birdsh*t myself, see some of the other posts from Guest! He rarely has anything positive to say.
I can say that I have had great service from all folks on the board- Banjo, Tell, James to name a few.
