Howdy all! I am on the hunt for some fossilized wood, still in the rough. Enough to fill a shoebox or more. Medium to larger pieces would be great. If you could post some pics / price / shipping cost (I'm in Henderson NV 89011) , hopefully we can make a deal. If you prefer you can send me a message instead of posting, but if you post and I don't buy it maybe someone else will? then it's a win win, lol. Thanks for your time .

Just go for a hike in the desert! It's that easy? Serious question. I'd have to imagine some areas are more reknowned than others. Thanks. Dave

Join the local club and go on field trips. Hopefully will be doing that next month at the next meeting. Lots of stuff I'd like to accomplish on my "to do" list, and I'm sure they'd be helpful. Plus, I might learn something. Dave

I will definitely have to check into that. I've know about Arizona having a lot of fossilized wood but didn't even think of any in Southern Nevada. I have been hiking and running around in the deserts out here since '81 but I've never came across any (could just not have been in the right areas). Thanks for the tip

Once you see it, the next and more come easy. That is called finding your "search image".... Lol Sorry about the fancy terms. They is real though. Now go find the pet wood! Ha!

Lots of wood in southern Nevada. Perhaps vegasjames has some help for him! There is a spot about 40 miles from here with lots of wood, but it is not colorful. Mostly brown and black. Found a pastel pink and blue piece about 70 miles south of here, but never found a source.

I don't mind browns and blacks, as long as it still looks like wood Here's a piece I recently did:
And the backside (finished with necklace)

When I get a chance then I will try to pull some out and photograph it so you can see what it looks like. I have a box full in the yard.
