Has anyone purchased from these guys? I have been perusing the net looking for Botswana agate which, it was my understanding, is now not avaliable for export in the rough. Redwoodrocks has graciously offered to share, but I found this site, and would like to buy, but thought I'd get some feedback from the group. You've never done me wrong...Susan www.superagates.com/index.htm

Those are some pretty steep prices on the Lakers, you can find them on ebay a lot cheaper.

I'm sending in an order to my friend in Zimbabwe for some stuff and included is botswana. With shipping at $3.50 a kilo and the price of the stones, it gets a bit more expensive than my usual 2 buck a pound stuff. I'll post when it gets here. Last order only took 4 days, but that was 20 pounds. But I'm more into just getting enough for some nice cabs, AND THEN...sell the rest. I'll keep ya's posted.

Banjo- If you get a nice small nodule (under 2 inches) and you can set it aside for mefor a while please do so. I want to make some small cabs of Bots - or if you get a couple of nice cutoffs let me know- I only need one or 2 and if you don't mind saving some for me I'll probably have an order for you sometime in September.

Here it is - Botswana Cutting Rough from WWW.SUPERAGATES.COM. Maybe someday I'll get a chance to play with my Rock Rascal and post some "after" photos. I also got some tumbling rough that I busted up and threw in a free barrel. It's in week 3 of coarse, will post photos in about 6 months. S

Wow, that is sweet. If you don't feel you have time to play with them, just send them here! Good luck working them. I'm sure they're gonna turn out great. Joe

Joseph, at $75 for the lot ($25 a pound) I think I'll hang on to them. Botswana is going to be harder and harder to find, and these are nice ones. Susan

Thanks, KD -
I like the new avatar, too. It's suitable for me, being a Bagpiper (in training) from the High Desert. Kokopelli has always looked like a Bagpiper to me...those "antenna" look like the drones of the bagpipes, and he's obviously wearing a kilt!
James, the lapidary guy from Mama's Minerals is coming over on Sunday to help me get started with the Rock Rascal, and then I'll be a-cuttin' and a-cabbin'. I'm trying to save up for a Diamond Pacific Pixie, smaller version of the Genie, until then the Rock Rascal will have to do - ;D Susan

Susan, I know it's been a while since you got your rocks... were you pleased with your over all order?
I just placed an order with them for tumbling rough. I haven't paid yet, so I can still back away.

nmrocks, the botswanas were talked about by bikerrany recently, sorry you missed the display . . superagatesi ordered from him was very pleased the stones were great for 3.50 the fields in botswana are reportedly depleted and as an amateur geologist/mineralogist they dont regrow when mined out. if i could buy more myself i would cabbing grade especially with careful slicing you can recover cuttable cab areas from the tumbling rock. gemshop has been out for 2 or 3 years now his wholesale was 4$ a pound . i bought 15#s and let my digging partner buy 2 #s a word to the wise get while you can ,or not at all mostlikely. gemmaster

Hi, all! I actually got some Botswana from www.superagates.com back in July, a little while before bikerrandy appeared (Hi, Randy!). I have had some tumbling for a couple of months, I think it's in prepolish right now, due to go into polish this weekend. I also picked up some nice larger Botswana cutting rough and some Chevron amethyst from them. Everything I have gotten from them has been very nice and solid, they are super cool to deal with. As I recall, the dude's name is Mark. ;D S
