Man I had a great sawing day yesterday. Dang Covington actually ran the entire day without the power feed overheating so I got ten slabs cut. That palm is hard stuff though, had too resharpen the blade three times or else it would jamb in the cut, even with the clutch set for an incredibly slow feed rate. Got the entire hunk of Rio palm slabbed up till there in nothin but a nubbin left. Used several different orientations. Here are the pics. Still have to photogrph the other Rio agate slabs I cut...Mel

Beautiful material! Is Rio Palm typically that colorful?

Larry, Most the palm from the Rio Grande gravel beds tends to be pretty colorful, about the most colorful in the world from what I've seen. I've actually seen pieces more colorful than these on Matt Dillon's picture site. Some of the Palm from the George West, TX wood beds rivals it, though the Rio material seems to be more solid, probably because of all the river tumbling action....Mel
