recentlly ordered cutting rough rock from the rockshed.com he was a bit slow ,had to crank him on the phone but the 5#puddindgstone, 5#rose quartz and the absurdly improperly misnamed 5#:african bloodstone" arrived fast after that looks good especially the cherry orchard agate which name i saw over 30 years ago for the same rock. it is brecciated agate has angular red pieces of japer in a green agate love the color contrast probablly will reorder, he is apparently geared to selling crushed rocks for tumbling , best hand selection as i coiuld get site unseen as they say. gemmaster

Shawn is great, he is not deceptive about his product, if he says it is good, it is.

In the last few days I've seen two other dealers call the same rock 'bloodstone' or 'Swazi bloodstone' so I guess that's the going term in the 21st century.
"It is not a true bloodstone, but rather a red jasper brecciated into a green chert"
Probly ain't got no cherry orchards in Swaziland.

may or may not be cherries in swaziland but the bastardization of a true name [bloodstone] by linking it to this material is scientically obscene and inexcusable. i realize i am a voice in the wind but the unwashed masses are saddled with enough ignorance with government schools, government lies , and mass indeference surely the sellers could have done better in naming this rock, like the rock , abbhor the name . gemmaster

Yup! I agree. Not bloodstone but rather brecciated jasper-agate. Have always called it "cherry orchard agate" out here. Never heard of a squarish spot of blood anyway and that's where true bloodstone got it's name!...mel
