Oh I bet the folks that make spheres are drooling when looking at these two rocks! Me too, and I am not a sphere-maker, just a wisher.

Not just the land of cheese, liking those red rocks too! Oh yeah the cheese . Trouble with the red rocks is they are so easy to see . I tend to get so focused on them I walk right over other good stuff . Walked right past a 3 1/2 oz copper nugget last weekend . GF was happy , she thanked me for letting her find it .

We sure like your finds, the generous size gives you lots of raw mtl. in one chunk.

A couple of years ago one of our members sent me a box of Mary Ellen and jaspelite. A group pf specimens of the red spotted jasper came with the lot so I'm assuming those are part of the Mary Ellen/jaspelite ( banded iron) complex. The dots and sometimes nice orbs do go clear through the rocks and appear sometimes to be almost oolitic so I'm thinking fossil origin like the Mary Ellen. All are super hematite rich and plainly come from an iron ore zone. I'm really loving the bright orange examples you are finding. Man, I'd love to see a big ole sphere cut from any of those!.....Mel
PS: Interestingly enough, there are very similar oolitic jaspers and hematite rich examples in the Rio Grande material too. All that iron makes for all those neat color combinations.
