Howdy folks,
Boy oh boy have I got a good one for all of you tumblers or cabbers. I've been looking for some high grade Flint Ridge Flint for cabbing and tumbling. Chanced upon Flintridgeflint.com and contacted Gary. C. Hardy. Mr. Hardy has a farm right next to the famous park by this name and offers flint for napping, cabbing and tumbling. I immediately ordered a flat rate box ( the most he can squeeze in is 20#) of tumbling material at $1.00 per pound plus $9.00 s/h. The material he shipped was so darn pretty that I immediately re-ordered more tumbling stuff and some cabbing material. The second group of boxes was just as nice as the first, far exceeding my expectations. Absolutely beautiful rock in a wide variety of colors and patterns! The cabbing grade was $2.00 per pound, another real deal. If you like to cut really unusual cabs or want really nice colorful tumbles, I'd really suggest you give him a try. He ships fast and is a really nice fellow too. If you want, tell him Mel Hixson sent ya!

I tried to check out his site but it said my browser doesn't support Java? What does that mean? Is there any other way to see into his site than? Clueless here! LOL!

Stefan: That is so weird! I'm not real internet savey but when I type the website addy into my address search box, it just goes right to it with no trouble at all and I can see every page. We've been rainy and overcast for several days since I got my last boxes of Gary's flint and today was the first day I got to see it wet in the sun. After my mouth dropped shut and I finished dancing around in glee, I immediately ordered another 60 pounds of the cabbing rough. Boy, his material is glassy as all get out and the variety of colors and patterns is friggin unbelievable. I first saw polished examples of this flint right at this site and have to admit I'm thoroughly enthralled by the material. Nothing like it here in California except maybe some of the Stone Canyon Jasper which is similar in pattern to some of the flint but doesn't have as many colors.. Am thinking of doing a whole showcase of just his material for our gem show this year if I can get some cabbed / tumbled up and ready.. If you still can't access Gary's site and want to contact him his snailmail address is:
Gary C. Hardy 15887 Flint Ridge Road Newark, Ohio 43056

Howdy Folks, Happy day here today. Got my re-order of Flint Ridge Flint from Gary Hardy. Should say I got part of the order. The PO seems to have dropped off only two of three boxes I was supposed to get. Post office around here is getting a little snotty about these heavy flat rate cartons and the boxes seem to be receiving more abuse. Don't know how long this is going to last. They complained the last one I sent off would have cost $39 at regular rates! Shoot, I figure we're just keeping their muscles in shape! I'll have to corner the mailman tomorrow and ask him what gives? Gary insures the shipments anyway so I'm not worried. Anyway, the forty pounds I received was if anything, more spectacular than the last lot. Gary even made sure to give me specimens that exhibit different color patterns than my first batch. When the sun comes out, I'll take another pic or two of some of my favorites. Man, this stuff is gonna make some world class cabs!...Mel
