I would face it,on cutting with photo # 3...Looks pretty solid...

Piece does look real good. My preference is always to cut across the cellular structure rather than lengthwise along the bone. I just think that makes a prettier pattern and often shows the fine details in the structure of the cell replacement better....Mel

Nice bone! Colors are great. Yeah, what Mel said. Crossways to the grain, just like with pet wood.
