Just getting into the hobby and was wondering what people do with there dremels roto-tools? I have been playing with a toy tumbler and some rough emeralds with some sucsess. But I need somthing to do while waiting on my stones to finish their steps and my new 3 barrel tumbler. ;D I'd like to try and cut some emerald crystals out of the matrix with my dremel. I found a set of 5 240 grit diamond cut-off wheels on e-bay I am going to try to do this. Anybody else do this? If so could you eplain the process? Do the blades need to be cooled? What about working with opal? I'd also be VERY intrested in seeing ANY work done with dremels. Maybe some links too?
Thanks in advance!

As luck would have it, I was just looking for information on drilling with dremels yesterday. I found this site and, also as luck would have it, this guy deals a lot with opals. I've finished some stones and am hoping to drill some of them into beads for pendants or jewelry. Yeah, sure, I could try wrapping, but the look just doesn't do it for me...I want more pure stone. But check out this site and let us know how it works for you. www.lopacki.com/howto/
